Van-Build Services
With over three years of experience working on vans and custom travel trailers, I am happy to offer an assortment of services related to designing, building out and upgrading all types of travel vehicles:
My background (aka why trust me?):
What working with me looks like:
- 12v and solar systems (system design and product selection, installation, troubleshooting)
- General layout and floor plan help
- Vehicle selection/consideration
- New-to-owner vehicle/trailer informational walk-throughs
- Water systems
- Diesel heater installs
- B2B (aka alternator charging) system installs
- Suspension upgrades
My background (aka why trust me?):
- Gutted, built-out and traveled for nine months out of a 2003 Ford E250 High-Roof Conversion van
- Completely re-built interior of said van based on learning what did and did not work after one year of use. Upgraded front and rear suspension, replaced rear axle, flushed coolant system and designed custom solar roof box.
- Worked as shop-hand, production manager, R&D and quality control lead at Homegrown Trailers for two years (a shop that built high-end wooden travel trailers). Work included woodworking, fiberglass & epoxy, 12v and solar systems. Performed field repairs and upgrades on trailers in WA and MT for Homegrown Trailers sister company, Roam Beyond.
- Completed ~10 custom solar & 12v system installs on trailers and vans (DIY and Sportsmobile)
What working with me looks like:
- Phone consultation to review customer needs, budget and timeframe
- Creation of any applicable drawings (wiring diagrams, floorplans, etc)
- Creation of product spreadsheet to outline specific components (including pricing and product links)
- Review of drawings, product spreadsheet and any additional information with customer to ensure that everything is understood clearly
- Customer purchases products and ensures that all items have arrived before work begins
- Work takes place at customer's home or at another agreed-upon space (I have limited storage space to work on a vehicle)
- Work is billed at roughly $50 per hour, with additional fees for travel, consultation/drawing/spreadsheet creation (these fees will vary from project to project)
- Please note - I am NOT licensed, bonded, or insured. I strive to build long-lasting systems and work with clients on an on-going basis to address any issues that arise. Insurance is unfortunately prohibitively expensive for the part-time nature of my work.
